16, July, 1927.

I am commanded by the Army Council to acknowledge receipt of your letter number 30182/1927, dated 4th July, 1927, forwarding a copy of correspondence with the Governor of Hong Kong regarding the rates of wages of certain subordinate grades of Government servants in the Colony, and to inform you that the Council agree that there is no reason to doubt that the General Officer Commanding, South China Command, Hong Kong, fully appreciates the necessity for co-ordination with the Colonial Government, and the Commodore of His Majesty's Dockyard, on all questions of labour policy arising at the station.

I am to add that the Council will be glad to be supplied with a copy of the despatch promised in paragraphı 3 of the confidential despatch dated 15th January, 1927, addressed by the Governor to the Secretary of State for the Colonies, regarding a proposal to constitute a Labour Advisory Council in Hong Kong, when this is received.

I am,

Sir,

Your obedient Servant,

Agleed

The Under Secretary of State,

Colonial Office,

London,

S. W. 1.
